It all started when Ron and Andrea decided that the accommodation facilities at the Mountain Rivers property had to be expanded to support a family living there full time. Rawson already had a huge motel/convention centre and a huge caravan park, so what would be really different? We had a site with breathtaking views. It had been well chosen by MMBW management (at ratepayer expense) years ago. So what would be our dream get-away?
November 2009: Before the roof is on it rains, the paint gets washed off, the floors get covered in red mud, and we wait for summer to dry everything out!
December 2009: Russ and Rach do internal design and purchasing. Great ikeas!
March~May 2010: Plumbing, wiring, insulation, plastering and painting.
July 2010: We find the shower door is too heavy to attach to the wall! So Peter cuts a hole in it, installs more framing and on we go.
August 2010: Geoff and Ron get into a sweat wrestling with a 2m wide sheet of plate glass jammed between two posts! We twist it out without breakage.
September 2010: Painting the stairs, Ron spills the paint in his lap. This results in his shorts being washed in the kitchen sink, very fast painting, then a streak outside to get spare clothes which were at the top of the stairs!
October 2010: Finished. (About 30% over budget, but everyone says wow!)
